The League’s purpose is to train youth in the safe handling of firearms, sportsmanship and marksmanship. Safety is very important in the sport, as the results of unsafe rifle handling can be grave. On the other hand, because of the emphasis that is placed on safety, legitimate firearms usage is an extremely safe activity, safer than any other youth sport. All youth are trained and tested in safety before they are allowed to use a rifle on the range.

The Junior League uses a program established by the NRA to instruct youth in marksmanship. Our coaches have been trained by the CMP/USA Shooting/NRA combined coach program. Our coaches have the highest rating available, Advanced International Rifle Coach.

In the Junior League youth are given the opportunity to participate in competitive rifle shooting. We participate in the New Jersey Association of Rifle and Pistol Clubs matches, and youth who participate in those matches can be selected to be sponsored by the association to participate in the NRA National Matches at Camp Perry, USA Shooting Nationals at Fort Benning or the Junior Olympics. Youth from our club who have the discipline to excel in competitive shooting can earn college scholarships.

Cost: $5.00 per night.

Other: Equipment and ammunition are provided that can take most youth to the Sharpshooter level.
